University: University of British Columbia Professor: Vincent Wong Department: Electrical and Computer Engineering Research: Performance Evaluation of LTE Systems The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Long Term Evolution (LTE) system is the next generation wireless cellular networks. In order to provide a high data rate and quality of service, LTE systems support orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) based radio interface, a mixed of cell types, and relay node base stations. In this project, we use OPNET simulator and use it to evaluate the performance of LTE system. The project has the following inter-related tasks: (a) Compliance check between OPNET simulator and 3GPP LTE standards; (b) Develop scheduling and handoff modules; (c) Define the traffic profiles and applications; (d) Simulation studies and parameter tuning.
